about;
evie starshine is a 26 (beginning of arr) year old veena viera from othard. she is short in stature for a viera, standing at only 5'10".
she journeyed to eorzea a few years before the calamity as garlemald's grip on othard grew stronger. gridania became her new home, and because of her desire to care for and protect people, she learned the art of white magic, which was relatively easy for her due to her innate connection to nature. she enjoys tending to plants and flowers, and excelled in botany early in her stay in gridania.
evie is kind, approachable, and levelheaded most of the time, but she does have a mischievous side to her, a trait she picked up from the moogles in the twelveswood during her conjurer training. people often come to her to vent or seek advice because of her sincerity and willingness to listen. she rarely gets truly angry, but when she does her anger is explosive, lashing out to protect those who she cares for.
her experiences with the echo mainly occur through dreams, often waking up from confusing and sometimes horrifying visions that she realizes are memories of other's pasts.

evie started out her adventures in gridania, where she studied conjury in the twelveswood. while during her training, she aided papalymo and yda whenever the need arose.
her and ysayle had an intimate relationship during their journey through dravania. evie was devastated after ysayle's sacrifice, and vowed to never lose someone she loved again.
evie served only as a healer during her travels in the source, but upon arriving to the first and seeing the horrors that are the sin eaters, she was determined to become stronger so she could better protect people. after seeking advice from lyna, whom she looked up to as a fellow viera/viis, she took up dancer. upon returning to the source, she also began to dabble in other combat classes.

after the starshower that elidibus caused in the crystarium, evie started getting echo dreams of amaurot more and more frequently; however, she couldn't quite place why the city felt so familiar yet so distant. accompanying these dreams were also ones of landscapes that were similar to those found on the first and source yet different, more robust, more rich and lively than she could ever imagine. these felt so tangible as if her unconscious form were there. the spray of the ocean as she walked along its shore; the warmth of a fire in a secluded opening of a forest; the light from the stars that guided her path as she pressed onward into a vast and colorful unknown.
evie once again meets hythlodaeus in the slowly fading recreation of amaurot. he cryptically leaves the memory stones for her to pick up, and evie notes how similar they are to soul crystals. the last one she picks up, marked with the symbol of the sun, feels distinctly like the soul crystal for astrologian, but she pushes that thought back to focus on more pressing issues.
upon confronting elidibus in syrcus tower and hearing the words of emet-selch's shade, everything suddenly clicked. she held the title of azem, the traveler, the shephard to the stars, the defected fourteenth convocation member and whose true name is astraea. with this knowledge comes strength beyond what she ever knew in this life, the ability to weild the power of the very heavens.
